Sgrafitto and hanging vases.

I'm loving working with clay more and more.
I've been experimenting with some sgrafitto to get hairy textures.

Sgrafitto samples, to see which one I like best.

This was my favourite.

Hanging vases.
I still have to decide what colour these are going to be.
I'm thinking something with speckles might be nice.

New studio, new adventures.

Together with Tim Braakman and Amy Suo Wu, we have found a new working space we are making look nice and cosy. We have two floors, one of them on street level. This will allow us to showcase our work and others. It will be an open space for different types of activities, we want to keep it open. We shall see what the future holds. I'm excited about this new phase!

Potato Pilots

The Potato Pilots project is finished and open for the public to go and see.
Check my website to see all the photos:

Illustrations for Pineut liquors

Pineut is renewing their identity and they asked me to do this series of illustrations to implement in their new image. They sell all the ingredients (except the alcohol) for you to brew your own liquor.
I recommend them, they're suprinsingly tasty with the added value of DIYing your own booze.

Potato Pilots - collaboration with Henriette Waal.

I'm working with the artist and designer Henriette Waal on a super fun and interesting project, all about potato farms around Schiphol airport. It's turning out to be a big illustration project. More info on it soon. For now, a sneak peak of my illustrations. (Photo taken from my new studio!)

I love getting a peak into a specialised field. Now potatoes seem
a LOT more important to me.

Pot Heads put to use.

These Pot Heads I made some months ago are finally hosting plants. It’s harder than you’d think to find the perfect hair- plant.

Ceramic workshop at Marta Claret's studio.

I'm spending quite some days in Barcelona this summer, so I decided to make the most of it and visit my friend Marta Claret in Cambrils (Tarragona). Together we spent some very inspiring and productive days working on ceramics and giving each other tips.

The days flew by and unfortunately there was not enough time to do the second round of baking, so I’ll have to finish the pieces off at the end of September in the ceramics course I attend in Rotterdam. Here’s a peek of some of them but I’ll show the final results when they’re ready.

Check Marta’s blog to see her beautiful creations:
You can follow her work on Facebook:

My pleasure and interest in ceramics is growing more and more. I feel it goes hand in hand with illustration work.

Marta's studio is a 20 second walk away from the beach.

Sculpting one of my Little People.

Results of the first day.

Little bowl.

All the pieces turned to biscuit, ready to be painted with pigments.
A load of lips.

The oven gets to over 1000ÂșC.

The oven space had to be optimised to the max. Here's Marta getting the baked pieces out. This was an exciting moment! The oven took over 8 hours to cool down. You risk the pieces cracking if the oven is opened before cooling down.
Little Bearded Person.

Melancholic Little Person.
Litte People to stick in your plant pot and help keep them moist.
Face parts to compose on your wall.
One of my Potheads.

Baked pieces were super hot.

Street view from Marta's lovely studio in Cambrils.

More photos of the finished pieces will follow. Coming up in October.
Here are some of Marta's gorgeous pieces. I love her style.

Her hair turns into rivers through trees.

¡Gracias por todo Marta, lo he pasado pipa!

Zine Camp.

I collaborated in the organisation of this Zine Camp festival for WORM Rotterdam. I was involved in getting four workshops to happen and getting more participants involved. It was a wonderful experience filled with busy zine makers working together, interesting conversations and a lot of good energy.

Paper marbling workshop - marbleous!

The paper marbling workshop I organized was fun! It was 17 of us and the results were stunning. Even more so after getting high on turpentine. Lots of wows were heard during the process. Every print was a surprising result. Some people experimented with wood, which also gave nice results. Below is a video of 2 minutes of last night:

Here are some scans of some of my prints:
